Unimaginable claims that we employ land guards - Ghana Armed Forces

1

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have refuted claims that they hire land guards to watch and restore encroached territories that belong to them.

The claims, according to GAF, are unfortunate and unthinkable.

Indicating that it was a revelation made by the Chief Director of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Professor Patrick Agbesinyale during a meeting with the Committee, minority members of the Parliamentary Lands and Forestry Committee accused the government of using land guards to recover and protect government lands.

In a statement, the Ghanaian Armed Forces urged the people to ignore such reporting since their efforts are "geared toward protecting the frontiers of our country against the downward spread of violent extremism from the Sahel Region."

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have been horrified to follow a news report that claims they employ land guards to regain their encroached territories. GAF wants to reassure everyone in Ghana who has good intentions that the accusation is untrue and should be regarded with the contempt it merits.

It is inconceivable that GAF cannot defend its own property and must instead engage in illicit behavior by hiring land guards, a forbidden activity.

GAF regrets that unfounded claims made by Prof. Patrick Agbesinyale, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources' Chief Director, at a meeting of a parliamentary committee on July 10, 2023, led to news publications. We want to emphasize that this claim, which Hon. Alhassan Suhuyini, Member of Parliament for Tamale North, reiterated to the media, is untrue and shouldn't be taken seriously.
