This was noted in his letter of resignation, dated January 19, 2023, and made public by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu.

According to the letter, Dame justified his choice by citing the tremendous pressures on his job.

"...Due to my limited involvement in the organization's business and the duties of my office, I feel it is necessary to step down from the post in order to make room for the appointment of a new Secretary. In light of the situation, I respectfully inform you that I will no longer be serving as the Executive Council's secretary going forward," Mr. Dame continued in this letter.

Following months of debate over the building of the National Cathedral, Dame resigned.

Below is a write-up by Mr.Ablakwa after he posted the said letter on his social media pages:

According to recently acquired documents, Ghana's Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, abruptly resigned from his position as Secretary to the Executive Council of the scandal-riddled "National" Cathedral of Ghana on January 19, 2023.

On March 16, 2023, Sena Chartered Secretaries Ltd. took his post.

Many analysts would conclude that the AG's decision to leave the company and his claim in his resignation letter that his involvement in the shady cathedral issues has been "minimal" are both wise moves on his part.

The Ghanaian public was not previously made aware of Dame's silent six-month-old departure from his employer, President Akufo-Addo, from the president's globally famed billion-dollar legacy project, which the president refers to as "his priority of priorities."

If Dame's seeming Pontius Pilate resignation will release him from his obligations on judgment day, only time will tell.
