John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has suggested that money purportedly used by the government to buy votes in Kumawu and Assin North may have settled the National Food Suppliers Association's debt.

The government, according to the former president, should not have prioritized political opportunities over national governance.

For the past few days, the National Food Suppliers Association has been picketing outside the National Food Buffer Stock Company's (NAFCO) corporate offices in an effort to get the money they have been owed for more than two years.

He offered his opinion on the matter, saying, "I daresay that the money that was spent in buying votes, in creating ad-hoc roads in Kumawu and Assin North could have cleared all the arrears of the NABCO trainees and also cleared the arrears on the Buffer Stock supply."

At the Tertiary Education Institutions Network - KNUST chapter's Alumni Connect, John Mahama was giving a speech.
