Professor Kobby Mensah, a marketing and political communication instructor at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), has harshly criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's ambitions to become Ghana's next president.

Prof. Mensah stated his dissatisfaction of Dr. Bawumia's plan, if he were to win the 2024 presidential election, to establish Ghana as a digital hub on the African continent. This declaration was made by the vice president as he turned in his nomination paperwork to the NPP headquarters.

Prof. Mensah suggested that Dr. Bawumia concentrate on solving the nation's declining economy, which was the main reason he was selected as a running mate in 2016. This was said during an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM.

"I just couldn't believe he never once brought up the economy in his entire speech. This Vice President was selected solely for the purpose of changing the fundamentals; in particular, he promised to work to transition the nation from taxation to production in order to ensure that the economy was resilient and robust, but he has fallen short of this goal.

"This Vice President must be honest with us and explain what happened to his promise to transition the nation from taxation to production if he wants us to support him for the presidency of this nation."

Further expressing his doubt about Dr. Bawumia's prospective election as president, Prof. Mensah contended that it would compromise democracy's fundamental principles.

If Ghanaians truly believe Bawumia is qualified to lead this nation as president, then we have undermined the meaning of democracy because if someone performs, we appreciate and reward them, and if someone fails, we do not reward them. So what is he trying to tell us that even though he couldn't perform, we should reward him to become the president of this country?
